From Alarming Medical To Reaching New Heights

 

Take my client (and now friend), Kumar, for example.

We first met in April 2019, he was coming up to his 30th birthday ... making pretty good money ... living a very good lifestyle but his health and shape were in the worts state they've ever been in his life.

His medical was showing high cholesterol, high triglycerides and the the highest bodyweight he's ever been.

Can you imagine? Finally earning good money, having a lifestyle full of friends and partying but knowing that soon you're going to have to pay for it unless something changes?

Not great.

He wasn't working out or doing any sports, wasn't paying too much attention to his food and was spending a lot of his time being social with people having drinks and living it up.

And life was pretty good...

But the gap between his image of himself and how things were was dramatically widening .... (and he knew there was more that what he was seeing!).

Anyway - we started working together so Kumar could make a dramatic change.

I helped him set up both training and nutrition (and push him) and fast forward 10 months ...

He’s lost 17kg of bodyweight, got promoted at work and is organised and focused like never before, and he did this with 3 workouts a week. (That’s correct. Not a workout more during the whole time. Also no cardio and no calorie counting.)

And it all started with him losing his first 3.4kg within the first 3 weeks.

 

Lost 14% Body Fat, Built Muscle In The Right Places, And Kept Her New Shape For The Last 5 Years.

 

What’s crazy is she only lost 4kg of bodyweight in the process. 

My client Janice is a bit of a foodie. When we first started working together in 2014...

Her bodyweight was at 50kg but 28% of that was fat which she wasn't too happy about...

She just didn't have much muscle and carried around a bit of normal lifestyle fat (drinks, mac and cheese, anything tasty available)....

Naturally, she thought that once she starts working out she'll get leaner automatically ...but I told her we'll have to adjust her eating to achieve that.

“What if you started looking at food as a nutrient source rather than taste buds pleaser”, I asked.

“Why can it not be both”, she said.

I couldn't beat her at this debate.

Turns out she enjoyed her food even more than before. And lost 8% body fat in 12 weeks.

And about 2 months after that, she decided to get even leaner and lost another 6%...

 

By The End Of Our First Year, She Lost 14% Body Fat In Total.

 

And enjoyed both training and eating in the process. (As well as her results!)

And she NEVER TURNED BACK!

Once she realised what it means to have got in her best shape yet her eyes were wide open.

In fact, she got so inspired by her new found understanding of food that she got qualified as a nutrition consultant to help people change their eating habits on the side....

Oh. By the way, 5 years fast forward, she has more energy than ever before!

Still benefiting from that change and maintaining a very healthy lifestyle.

 

Time To Put Things Back Together

 

I have a newer client called Patrick.

He came to talk to me a few weeks ago and we started with a bang, giving him a very early 3kg lead. (He also quit smoking at the same time, by the way ...which makes this story even cooler.)

Here’s what happened.

He just got promoted to a head of finance and was expecting his first kid at the age of 35.

Which made him quite stressed but also gave him AN OPPORTUNITY to take his life to a higher level.

Anyway, we started training and adjusted his diet and boooom! He got an early 3kg fat loss in his first month even though he drank wine all throughout his holiday in Greece in the third week.

What’s interesting is he had all the reasons to fail. He had too much work to do, they were just acquiring a smaller company which required his full attention and energy, he had to refurb 1 room in his house to get it ready for his daughter, the fact he quit smoking could have made him hungry the whole time, stress management... 

And he’s the ALL IN guy! (When he does something he just bites into it until it's done.)

So the challenge with him was how do we make sure he gets all in results and still manages everything else since he's probably all in with all the other things too...

I didn't want him to drop off because of sudden overwhelm...

So I said, “Let's get you training 3 times per week, not a day more. It will be enough. You've also got other things to spend your time on and I don't want you to start looking at this as a burden to those.”

And he agreed.

Reasonable, right?

He's now obviously happy but his wife is probably even happier than him. And his results are exactly what we've expected. (Cheers to that!)

He's 6kg down in 10 weeks. still not touched a cigarette. His daughter was just born.

 

From Getting Shot By Thieves Robbing His Parents Practice... ...To Personal Transformation!

 

I have another client called Bal.

He runs a recruitment company in The City Of London.

He became a client because he wanted to finally move on.

Getting shot and running a business are clearly not stress free...

And sometimes when we're squeezed by circumstances we may let go of few things to deal with what's at hand. And that's how Bal put a bit of weight over time.... Things don't always work out as expected.

Anyway, Bal's already 7kg down ...and judging by his commitment and attitude, he should be able to manage at least another 7kg in the coming months.

He started with a big drop first and been seeing constant smaller drops ever since.

And He's Quite Happy With That

 

Especially because the entire process didn't change his social life a bit...He's still out having drinks 3x per week. 

This means he can be the person he is. Not pretending he's a serious athlete.

The difference?

He can do this for as long as likes ... HIGHLY SUSTAINABLE.

He doesn't need to cut every grain of rice or excuse himself from drinks and social activities with his family or business partners, colleagues and friends.

He can do this without any disturbance to his lifestyle.

Perfect fit.

 

From The Heaviest In Years To The Lightest, Losing 8% Body Fat In 8 Weeks.

 

Gary works just around the corner from me.

They provide a trading platform for bigger financial institutions. He's watching numbers... every day. Making sure their systems report correctly, communicating with clients.

In other words, lots of responsibility.

Anyway - January 19 he wanted to do something new.

He wasn't new to gym.

He's been training for a while, mostly working on his strength.

He could train with good form and all of that ... plus he was eating reasonably well (it's just the drinks!...) ... and he even wasn't completely out of shape.

He was at 86kg which was probably just about 5kg more than his ideal weight... But he wanted to get rid of a bit of his gut.

So... he could either continue doing what he was doing and just eat better and drinks less.

But he's been in that mindset for years. He would maybe do that for a month in January...

And then go back to his normal routine with the start of 6 Nations. Every year... No progress achieved. And stuck in a bit of a rut. Doing the same exercises.

Or he could mix it up... so he got me involved...

The deal was very clear. Let's get him doing slightly different stuff to what he normally does. Not a major change, but little tweaks.

And on top of it he'll have me to make sure he doesn't side track.

Long story short. I ended up with him and his mates watching England game vs Wales at Barrowboy And Banker - 6 Nations game ... And he did have a few pints that day.

But ... By then he started being so lean... his mate Adam told me he's not seen him this lean since school. They're both 40 now.

(And by the way, I've got nothing against drinks, I've had drinks with most of my clients at some point and we keep it very real with everyone.)

 

From Almost Giving Up To Completely Transforming Everything And Getting A Dream Job In The States

 

Then there’s Dave.

Originally a reporter, then touring with Spice Girls looking after their blog, video and social media, and now a Head Of PR for Disney Parks in Orlando...

Working in his job was quite a lot of travel, fairly long hours and as with all of my clients... Dave's had quite a lot to deal with every day.

(I guess most professionals living in London do..)

So i first met Dave after his kidney stone surgery. Which meant he was at his heaviest because of a 10 month recovery plan forcing him not to train.

And as a result, he not only had quite a lot to lose but he was also worried he wouldn't be able to shift it back... And he was on the verge of giving up...

Sure, he had me to help him... But in his mind, he worked with 2 other PTs before and neither of them managed to get him any results..
